Fast & Furious DVD review

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are both back on board. So then, Fast & Furious: are you any good? The luckless Michelle Rodriguez gets killed, and Vin Diesel goes into full-on revenge mode. The action scenes are also a mixed bag. Like its predecessors,Fast & Furiousis, in so many ways, complete and utter rubbish. But, like its predecessors, its lightweight, disposable nature is what saves it. The ladies kissing ladies also help....

Moon Blu-ray review

One of the very best films of the year arrives on Blu-ray. The interiors of the base have a very2001andSilent Runningfeel, mixed with a Ron Cobb-inspiredAlienpenchant for fine detail. In space no one can hear you scream, but youre rarely short of a moment alone with yourself. So its kyboshed on both fronts, really. Film: GetMoon on Blu-rayat the Den of Geek Amazon Store Rating: 4 out of 5

The Informant! review

But you never really get a sense of how big this is. And Soderbergh takes Whitacres larger than life persona and applies it liberally to the rest of the film. Yet Soderberghs masterstroke in making the film an out-and-out comedy is also his undoing. Even Biff fromBack To The Futuregets in on the act. That its nothing more, however, is a bit of a disappointment. Rating: 3 out of 5

10 sequels that are much worse than the original

What are the gaming sequels that have disappointed us the most? Harry puts together his picks right here… 10. The sequel complicated things with third person sections and melee combat that felt ever so slightly forced. Not a tragedy, but whereUnreal Championship2 succeeds is in making you want to play the original. Ad content continues below 9. Knight Of The Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords 8. Metal Gear Solid 2...

Cold Souls review

Den Of Geek loves Paul Giamatti. But how does he fare in Cold Souls? We cant just be flesh and bone and nothing else, right? Just like the real worlds Giamatti, this character is a famous American actor of stage and screen. Giamatti is starring in a worthy stage play of ChekhovsUncle Vanya, but cant hook into the character. Obviously, the choice of Chekhovs tale of disappointment and underachievement is no random selection....

Jason Manford Live At the Manchester Apollo DVD review

That may or may not be the case with Jason Manfords first DVD. But what you do get is a very funny gig, from a constantly improving and utterly engaging comedian. You suspect its a mixture of fine editing work and a strong core gig thats the reason for that. Theres even material showing, quite literally, the recording of the DVD show. He then interviews him. Its odd, but strangely engaging....

Supernatural series 4 volume 2 DVD review

The back end of Supernatural’s fourth season arrives on DVD… Previously onSupernatural, Dean made a deal with devil-child Lilith and ended up in hell. Four seasons in, and the series is still riffing on familiar themes. Namely, family, duty and the bond between the chalk and cheese Winchester brothers. To their credit, the writers are still finding interesting ways to tell the brothers story. Its a story laced with fan-pleasing references....

It’s from Michael Bay. But how does Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen work in the home? Director Michael Bay likes his bangs big and he likes them regular. Under The Dome by Stephen King book review

In fact, the plot shares a striking similarity with that ofThe Simpsons Movie. Things quickly go from bad to worse, and the death rate escalates. Just as Big Jim has Chesters Mill in his vice-like grip, King will have you in his. At nearly 900 pagesUnder the Domeis a hefty tome, but he manages to keep it interesting. As frightening as events inevitably become, however, its never truly terrifying. Kings never been one for writing complicated, morally-grey characters....

Drag Me To Hell DVD review

Sam Raimi’s Drag Me To Hell has been one of the movie treats of the year. The plot is quite simple and barely needs repeating. Its a very silly film, but thats beside the point. Its not as gory as theEvil Deadmovies, but with a 15-certificate that would have been impossible. A word out has to go to Alison Lohman, who plays the incredibly unfortunate cursed Christine. Could he ever play anything different?...
