Steppenwolf is back with a new look in Zack Snyder’s Justice League!

Darkseid is even joined by lieutenants like DeSaad and Granny Goodness in brief appearances in the film.

Hes also a significantly changed character from the one whoKirbyfirst introduced in the pages of DC Comics.

Who is Steppenwolf?

Interestingly enough, Steppenwolfs earliest appearances in Kirbys Fourth World titles were in flashbacks.

The twin planets engaged in a war that burned for millennia and that conflict was kindled by Steppenwolf.

Cyborg, Flash, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman all assembled in Justice League

During the many battles, Steppenwolf was killed.

Highfather became so bloodthirsty that he prayed for a way to end the brutal conflict.

The entire foundation of DCs New Gods saga was laid because of Steppenwolfs brutality.

When Steppenwolf returned to the DC Universe proper in 1996, it was in the Kenner outfit.

That pretty awesome toy axe is on prime display inZack Snyders Justice League.

Not Mister Miracles best choice, I guess.

The new Steppenwolf appeared in the rebooted DCU inEarth-2.

This version is the closest both visually and thematically to the one we see onscreen inJustice League.

And it seems like theres probably more change coming to the character in the near future, too.

When next we see Steppenwolf on screen, he may very well be a completely different character.
