An ancient mutant will attack the 1980s in 2016’s new X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse.
If the double-bill disappointment ofX-Men: The Last StandandX-Men Origins: Wolverinecouldnt kill the X-Men franchise, nothing can.
That film would beX-Men: Apocalypse.
Take that, Magneto!
Without further ado, heres our primer on what to expect from the movie… Dude was levitating pyramids.
You couldnt have missed him.
This chap has been lifted straight from the pages of the comics.
Hes immortal and ancient hes been hanging around for about 5000 years.
En Sabah Nur was likely the first person to be born with the X-gene.
His grey skin and blue lips resulted in his people abandoning him as an infant.
This was the final straw, and En Sabah Nurs subsequent rage caused his mutant powers to fully emerge.
From that point on, he never aged.
He didnt stay weedy for long.
His early years saw him travel between civilisations convincing them that he is a god.
Encouraging destructive tendencies, he would often command an army to enact dastardly schemes in his stead.
Sometimes he gets bored and pops himself in suspended animation until something more interesting happens.
Notably, he turned the X-Man Angel into his lackey Death via some cyborg-y meddling.
So where does that point us?
Well, the battle over Raven/Mystiques conscience has been the central emotional arc for theFirst Classcrew so far.
She met Nicholas Hoults Hank McCoy when Charles and his new buddy Erik recruited him for to their team.
Hank was developing a mutant suppressant that could hide his physical deformities, and make him look more normal.
She gave him a sample of her blood, which he believed could help.
No longer thinking about hiding, she adopted the mantra mutant and proud.
Together, after helping Charles avert the Cuban Missile Crisis, they formed the Brotherhood of Mutants.
Trying to avert a timeline where Trask uses Mystiques DNA to create unstoppably adaptable Sentinels, Erik shoots her.
So, where next for Mystique?
Wed still expect more moral grey areas, and possibly one or two more kisses, though.
There is still a question mark over Wolverine, though.
Hugh Jackmans involvement in the film which has already finished shooting remains unconfirmed.
That ones impossible to call, unfortunately.
Equally, though, he could embrace his mutancy and stick with Charles.
Having lobbed a ruddy stadium inDays Of Future Past, we cant assume hell get much redemption this time.
We have been wrong before, though.
The dark side of her performance inThronesis what landed her the role, apparently.
Kodi Smit-McPhee who impressed inSlow West, alongside Fassbender has landed the part of Nightcrawler.
Weve already got a glimpse at him in costume, too…
The inclusion of Cyclops aka Scott Summers is an interesting one.
Lucas Till played Alex Summers inFirst ClassandDays Of Future Past, and will return forApocalypse, too.
Hell get more to do this time, but will we find out if Magneto is really his dad?
We hope so, because this scene was brilliant.
So, to wrap up, there are a lot of strands at play inX-Men: Apocalypse.
A new generation of mutants and a few other familiar faces will be inducted into the fold as well.
Theres sure to be some teases towards the wider X-Men movie universe, too.
Weve still not ruled out some kind of role for Wolverine, too.
Maybe well leave it to him next time.
