I thought that was a very relatable predicament to be in.

Had you read any Marvel comics before this at all?

Id never really read comics when I was growing up.

I was always, I guess, a student of film and cinema.

Once you got into this, did you read up on the character?

Yeah, a little bit.

That really kind of formed the basis of what you see in the movie.

Skurge has some depth in that there is a definite arc to what hes doing.

Is that what struck you the most when you started reading the script?

Oh, definitely, yeah.

I felt for this characters predicament, I thought that it was imminently relatable.

This is definitely one of the funniest of the Marvel movies, if not the funniest.

Yeah, really full credit has to go to Taika and to Marvel.

Most of your scenes are with Cate Blanchett.

No, I actually met Cate for the first time at the premiere ofLord to the Ringsin London.

My character didnt interact with hers.

Working with her was a brilliant experience.

I loved the way she approaches the work.

What have you heard on that?

It was a good note to end it on.

Im just an actor, Im not a writer.

But youre aTrekfan too.

Yeah, but I wouldnt speculate on it.

We would just be blessed to have the opportunity to make another one.

Whats happening with the Dredd TV series thats potentially in the works?

Its almost like the fans are willing it to happen.

What do you think makes these so successful with the fans out there?

Beyond that theyre just fun, its as simple as that.

Theyre fun movies and theyre funny.

People have a great time and theyre one of the best forms of escapism out there.

Thor: Ragnarokis out in theaters tomorrow (Friday, November 3).
