Geek god Mr William Shatner has an array of non-Star Trek movie roles under his belt.
Outside of Captain Kirk, which are his best?
William Shatner is a curious case of international super-stardom.
But of course, we all love him in spite of that.
In fact, you could probably argue that we love himbecauseof that.
When he reined it in, Shatner was equally capable of turning in excellent performances.
The result was an undeniably fantastic leading performance in one of the best-loved science fiction films of all time.
Hes the kind of character who wanders around a room slowly before noticing the dead body in it.
Shoot Or Be Shotis another bizarre one.
The amount of times he says the word German doesnt really help, does it?
However, at points duringImpulse, Shatner finds a rarely seen ability to send a shiver down your spine.
An honourable failure is better than a downright awful film, henceImpulsejust sneaks onto this list.
Its a film that knows how ridiculous it is, which suits Shatner wonderfully well.
His facial expressions are a delight, and he provides a great bouncing-off point for the main comedy stars.
Its a shame we didnt see more of his character.
It makes you wonder what might have become of Shatner if he hadnt become so associated with Kirk.
Although hes far from the main character, his turn in 2006sOver The Hedgesprings immediately to memory.
Walls, so high.
How will we get in?
and must… move… toward… the light!
with his trademark ability to drag out a line but over-emphasising every single word.
A shame:Over The Hedgeis an overlooked DreamWorks gem.
Its also an excellent, excellent movie.
Instead, his character is assigned to assist the Judge in any way possible.
Although its a minor part, its a fine turn.
Above is his introduction to the Judge.
Above is a scene where Shatners gambling man William Baxter charms the title character at a horse racing circuit.
Its a character that suits him down to the ground, and a performance worth seeking out.
The film itself doesnt quite work.
Incubus
Serious Shatner rears his head again here, in a pre-Star Trekperformance that thoroughly showcases his versatility.
See the trailer above if you somehow require more convincing.
/ No, Im afraid Ill never get over Macho Grande…).
Bravo, Mr Shatner.
We are talking, of course, aboutFree Enterprise.
As a heightened portrayal of himself, Shatner shines of pure comedy gold.
The plot sees Shatners Bill attempting to stage a one-man musical version ofJulius Caesar with rapping!
It seems only right we end with a Shatner sing-song…
