Phantom Boy is playing in a limited number of UK cinemas this weekend.

It’s just the kind of surprise that’s hard to find in modern movies.

Theres a kinship in there.

Ive not earned my nerd stripes for nothing, andMonster Truckswas swiftly abandoned.

We clambered in the car, and it wasPhantom Boyfor us.

Well, for us, and the three other people in the cinema.

YetPhantom Boywas and is an absolute treat.

Id only seen the stunningA Monster Callsthe week before, and theres a slight overlap.

But this isnt a film designed to jerk tears.

I cant help feeling that Ive let Soda Pictures down.

Hopefully, this piece redresses the balance just a little.

Its just over 80 minutes long, and its stuck in my head all week.

Especially one that can be enjoyed by a family audience.
