These milestone moments do a good job of upping the ante and advancing the narrative.
The problem is thatThe Evil Within2s moment-to-moment storytelling is quite bad.
Thats especially true of the games downright awful voice acting.
Maybe it is, but that does little to make the experience any more enjoyable.
It certainly doesnt help that the games characters dont rise beyond the level of cliche.
Having said all of that, there is an undeniable charm to the games weirdness.
That extra space plays host to plenty of items, side-quests, and optional enemy encounters.
Do you brave that area patrolled by a particularly hazardous creature in the hopes of finding spare ammunition?
That predicament is made all the more complicated by the games surprisingly challenging combat.
There comes a point when you no longer really have to concern yourself with finding that one perfect item.
Its that quality which makesThe Evil Within 2such a difficult game to judge from a Buy or dont buy?
Its a lot like the firstEvil Withinin that respect.
The Evil Within 2is the easiest rental recommendation Ill make in 2017.
The things it does well are worth experiencing.
