The Aliens, from the producers of Misfits, is raucous fun with a social message.

Heres what to expect from E4s new sci-fi comedy…

Whenever humans imagine being invaded by an alien race, its pretty much always a big deal.

Rarely is first contact no biggie.

I suppose society taught him to hate them.

But he changes, which I like.

Circumstances force Lewis to shift his position.

Like another character in Michael Sochas repertoire, he has to learn tolerance.

His pig-headedness towards vampires is like Lewis pig-headedness towards aliens.

But also, theres an innocence in Lewis that Tom had.

Hes quite a sad, lonely bastard in his human world, says Socha.

His lifes quite shit.

He loves Lilyhot and hes doing some bad shit for her, says Socha.

Hes doing things that he wouldnt normally do for the sake of love.

Shes a wrongun, really.

I think Lewis relationship with Lilyhot is like that, but to an extreme.

Hes massively infatuated with her.

Played byHorrible Histories,YonderlandandPeep Shows Jim Howick, Dominic starts out as Lewis comedy sidekick.

Its a great double-act.

He got cast really late, remembers Socha.

Beforehand, Id gone for a few chemistry tests with a few different actors.

I think one of the ADs had seen him in town and said Why havent we used Jim Howick?

and as soon as I heard the name, I was like Whyhavewe never used Jim Howick?

Jims the comedy element in this.

Its like Kenan and Kel, one of thems straight, one of thems a bit crazy.

Lewis isnt a typically funny guy.

Hes the bit of us, the straight guy.

Hes the bit of us in it, whereas Howick is the crazy comedy one.

Its not all crude humour and gangster action.

Alongside that is a social commentary that could scarcely be more relevant at the moment.

I think theyd find it hard not to, especially with all these camps that have come up.

No-one gives a shit.

If people watch the news, I think theyll definitely find the similarities.

The Aliens starts on Tuesday the 8thof March on E4.
