Peter Capaldi is far from the only Doctor Who actor to appear in multiple roles.
In retrospect, that seems like a reasonable caveat.
Ian Marter had a turn inCarnival Of Monstersbefore returning as Harry Sullivan in the Fourth Doctors first season.
Some characters even got multiplied the other way, reappearing as different characters after playing regulars.
Then again, we now know that they wont necessarily dismiss another familiar face from that episode so readily.
As mentioned, Peter Capaldi has featured twice before, between the main series and its spin-off.

So I dont know if well get to it… well play that one out over time.
