Number One
Georgiou calls Burnham Number One on several occasions.
My favorite use of the Number One designation comes inThe Next Generations Rascals.
Kahless
TKuvma sure loves Kahless, the messianic figure from Klingon history.
Kahless was the first emperor of the Klingon Empire, and gets referenced a bajillon times inStar Treklore.
He was first seen inThe Original Series The Savage Curtain.
InThe Next Generation, some ambitious Klingons make a clone of Kahless in Rightful Heir.
The similarities between these two narrative set-ups are many.
Its also worth noting that this episode marks actor Mark Lenards first appearance on Star Trek.
Lenard would go on to portray Sarek, a role played by James Frain in Discovery.
Sarek is the only character, as far as we know, who will linkThe Original SerieswithDiscovery.
In Star Trek canon, he is not only Spocks father, but the Vulcan ambassador to the Federation.
One of his more interesting character points is that he married a human woman, Amanda.
This design and location was first seen in the 2009Star Trekmovie in flashbacks to Spocks childhood.
Does this mean Spock and Michael grew up and perhaps studied together?
Mind meld & nerve pinch.
It is notoriously difficult for non-Vulcans to learn.
Chateau Picard
TrekCorespotted a bottle of Chateau Picard wine in Georgious ready room.
