The BBCs Bergerac in space 80s sci-fi series Star Cops was cancelled after just nine episodes.

One negative point the article mentioned was the theme tune by Justin Hayward ofWar Of The Worldsfame.

I absolutely loved what I had seen, but I could only find the odd clip and snippet online.

However, itwas The Cult Of Star Copswhich really intrigued me.

The series is fantastic.

The job is one he doesnt want.

The casting of David Calder as the Commander Nathan Spring is the perfect marriage of character and actor.

There is a love-hate relationship with these two (isnt there always a love-hate relationship?)

which certainly deserved to be developed further in a future series.

Clearly, that reviewer is one of the many who had never seenStar Cops.

Evans acting range is limited.

Limited to casual wise guy and outraged innocent.

And talking of ludicrous, I havent even mentioned his hair yet.

Each episode adds a little flavour to theStar Copsand are genuinely engaging and gripping.

Episode 2 (Conversations With The Dead), for me, is a definite highlight.

For me, its a lost opportunity.

If you get a chance to watch the series, take it.

I believe the DVD has now been deleted.

You might have to do a bit of detective work yourself to track the show down.

So, in many ways its taken the show full circle to the scheduling conflicts of 1987.

A shame and a loss.

RIPStar Cops: 6th July 1987 30th August 1987.
