Does the television adaptation of Rush Hour pack the punch of the original movies?

The seriespremieres Thursday, March 31st at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
Like many of you reading this, Im a big Jackie Chan fan.
But what made Jackie Chan special was the way he imbued his characters with an effervescent humanity.
His on-screen fight scenes were anything but rote; Chan often used props and humor to great effect.
Tucker can steal a scene like nobodys businessespecially as Ruby Rhod inThe Fifth Element.
The pairing of these two actors in 1998sRush Hourwas ingenious.
The 90s was rife with buddy cop movies, but Chan and Tucker had real chemistry onscreen.

The pilot isnt badbut its not great, either.
But instead of tracking down a kidnapped girl, the pair is trying to find stolen Chinese artifacts.
As for the characters themselves, Jon Foo is a serviceable enough stand-in for Jackie Chan as Detective Lee.
Out another way, the fights lacked punchand I hope later episodes improve upon this.
Again, big shoes to fill.
Its worth noting that Wendie Malick stars as Captain Cole.
