It remains, along withTucker & Dale Vs Evil, our favourite horror comedy of recent times. Well, Im a bit nervous about the release, as you would be. Hoping it goes well. And Im reading all the press that people are writing, which I actually think is very interesting. Sometimes its a bit deflating when its negative, and you feel shellshocked. But when its positive, which Im pleased to say its mostly been, its just very interesting....

Objectivity is annoying, frankly. If nothing else, I hope we can all objectively agree on that. This film feels rushed, theres unrealised potential here, an uncertainty over how to tell this story. This didnt have to be the case. Ill talk more about the skewed focus inThe Desolation of Smaug. Theres no lingering early on. Then Thranduil steps in. Thranduil is amazing, if you have a fondness for camp. Lee Pace chewing the green screen and contorting himself into strange serpentine shapes is entirely memorable....

For me, this aspect has the potential to be the most interesting part of the show. But it is also used for more dramatic effect as a way to Liv reflect on her pre-zombie life. In the pilot, we got the impression that Livs transition into a zombie was completely a negative one....
