Power Rangers Review

ThisPower Rangersreview contains no spoilers. You know the story. And make no mistake, this movie treats its subject matter with the utmost respect. One impossibly obnoxious piece of product placement aside, theres not a whiff of cynicism aboutPower Rangers. This probably isnt the movie that legitimizes Power Rangers among people who feel they need validation from critics. I suspect that was the goal all along. Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Rebecca Ferguson interview: Life, acting in zero-G, sci-fi

Ad content continues below Thats thanks to Daniel [Espinosa, director] he made it happen. Their actions generate reactions. What is your loneliness? What is my loneliness? Because theyre believable characters, from that comes unpredictability. With real people, you dont always know what theyre going to do next. Sometimes, Daniel would give directions to me and not to anyone else. It wasnt just on paper, it was a combination of emotion, character and truth....

The Americans Season 5 Episode 3 Review: The Midges

Its a little surprising then at how unabashedly fan service-y The Midges is. *They say write what you know and write for yourself. Ad content continues below Well Im a fan. And consider me served. Only this time theyre in disguise as the Eckerts. Elizabeth still rules at bowling while newbie, and decidedly unwilling American Pasha is terrible at it. Its here that we learn that Pashas dad Alexei is mostly upset with the U....

Daniel Espinosa interview: Life, creatures, sci-fi, Giger

The films atmosphere has the slow-burning edge of Gravity. Its an alien on a spacecraft, so there are all different ways you could handle it. But I liked the way you take it seriously. Im not a pulpy director. And I think [screenwriters] Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are very pulpy writers. I want to go into something from a realistic point of view; its my training from Denmark. Thats the thing I like about John Carpenter, also: likeThe Thing....

Marvel’s Iron Fist episode 4 viewing notes: Eight Diagram Dragon Palm

Episode four is definitely a leap up in terms of quality for Iron Fist. Here are our Eight Diagram Dragon Palm viewing notes… These viewing notes contain spoilers. But afterwards, I liked what happened. There was even some interesting stylistic direction in the now-obligatory corridor fight scene. Power Rangers: Getting Into Character With Ludi Lin and RJ Cyler

The Power Rangers actors and director talk how they brought a new dimension to the classic MMPR characters. How do you approach rebooting the characters of a long running franchise, especially one as beloved asPower Rangers? The characters in the original series, while somewhat paper thin by todays standards, are iconic. My brothers (and I) went, I dont know if we can survive. Its emotional right now I think we all need a nap....

Girls Season 6 Episode 6 Review: Full Disclosure

Another solid Girls episode of major ups and downs. The pregnancy itself isnt so novel; shows have been throwing in pregnancies to insta-spice up drama since forever. Its not as simple as Hannah was happy and now shes sad though. Its more like what seemed to be Hannah at her best has now been reframed as Hannah in denial. about their relationship and stubbornly shuts down perfectly reasonable advice from her dads boyfriend, Marnie, and Adam....

Marvel’s Iron Fist episode 3 viewing notes: Rolling Thunder Cannon Punch

These viewing notes contain spoilers. The whole of episode two feels like a weird diversion at this point. Not least because its the kind of thing that could easily have been avoided with a little forethought. Guess which one doesnt feature the shows lead character? Though I admit, any time he actually uses his Iron Fist Im enjoying it. At least Hogarth is back, reminding us that gay characters can exist in the MCU....
