18 years since its cancellation, MST3K finally has movie sign again.

Here’s a spoiler-free look at the first episode of season 11.

Theres something genuinely sad about the end credits theme forMystery Science Theater 3000.

This series was finally over.

While some of these flourished, there was still the awkward feeling that they werent moving forward.

Then came the highly-successful Kickstarter to bring backMST3Kwith a new cast, including new jumpsuit-wearing host Jonah Ray.

Many of the backers got to check out the first episode days early and Im one of them.

Wed finally get the answer to the question every MSTies had been wondering.

Sit back and relax.

I think hes got this.

So were left with a comparably extravagant atmosphere that still manages to retain the cheap charm of the original.

One challenge with this first episode is having to set it up.

But then you get to the new theme song and everything feels right.

Expect to see movies getting cut down to fit the shows 90 minute format.

Once were past the opening theme, the show starts to feel more familiar.

Jonah himself skews more towards Joels geeky innocence, though with Mikes brotherly relationship with the bots.

If anything, he steps into the shoes better than Bill Corbetts very first outing.

There are other changes in store for these bots and Gypsy, too.

The movie they target in this first episode is a great choice.

Thankfully, our new trio is able to give it what for and it certainly won me over.

There are a lot of great laughs to be had, including a certainMST3Krecurring punchline from the old days.

Then there are the host segments.

Its such a fun bit and Ive had to go back and listen to it several times over.

But also in the end credits is the usual ending theme, only now spruced up.

No longer do I feel all down and out when it hits.
