Marvel Studios has announced three movies without titles for 2020.
We did some digging to predict what they might be…
Marvel Studios has madea big announcement.
This trio of unnamed projects brings Marvels slate of upcoming movies to a gargantuan 14 films.
We could be wrong there, but nothing in the Marvel blurb mentioned Phase 4 at all.
Heres what we came up with…
N.B.
All dates listed in this article are the American release dates.
Historically, early May has almost always seen a sizeable success for Marvel.
The year after that, Marvel pushedThorin a big way by giving it a release date of 6thMay 2011.
The next year,The Avengersgot the May slot.
That one came out on 4thMay 2012, to be precise.
More on that later.
BecauseGuardians Of The Galaxyproved to be a huge hit, its sequel Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.
2 will also get a May release date.
Itll come out on May 5th2017.
The twoInfinity Warfilms will arrive on 4th May 2018 and 3rdMay 2019.
What does all this tell us, then?
Well, essentially, its clear that Marvel doesnt mess around with its May release dates.
Thor after his first movie didnt hit as largely asIron ManorIron Man 2 lost his May slot.
Put simply this movie will be a big one.
Wed expect this film to be a sequel to a property that Marvel is already very confident about.
2, my prediction isGuardians Of The Galaxy 3.
The second mystery Marvel movie is set to premiere on 10thJuly 2020.
All Marvels movies are successful, but hopefully you get what I mean.
It was also Marvels first and so far, only period film.
Phase 2, again, only had one July movie.
Since then, theres been two significant additions to the Phase 3 plan.
Firstly, Sony agreed to share Spider-Mans cinematic rights with Marvel.
So, what does this all mean?
That being said, all of these films could well become successes.
More room to breath, and all that.
But hey, people change, and so can giant multi-billion corporations.
(Yes, I am running out of ideas for images)
The final mystery date is 6thNovember 2020.
This ones intriguing because Marvel doesnt do November dates all that often.
In Phase 1, Marvel didnt have any November releases, for example.
Everything came out in May, June or July.
This changed with Phase 2, though, when Marvel plonkedThor: The Dark Worldin an 8thNovember 2013 slot.
That movie would have landed on 2ndNovember 2018, if it wasnt for that meddlingAnt-Mansequel.
and will turn up in February 2018 instead.
Thats all the November dates Marvel has ever had/planned.
So what can we glean from this mystery release date?
Our best guess:In all honesty, its hard to call.
Theres a chance that Marvel could have earmarked this date for aBlack Pantherfollow-up or anotherThorsequel.
Maybe thats why these dates dont have names attached yet.
Equally, they could have something utterly unpredictable in the planning stages already.
Like a debut outing for a younger (Squirrel Girl?
), lesser-known (She-Hulk?!)
or weirder (Howard The Duck?!?!)
