For Vincent is, as youve probably gathered, the titular beast of the series.
Having said this,Beauty and the Beastreally hasnt aged too well.
In a world now ruled by satire and meta-textual stories, its slow, lumbering and humourless by comparison.
Its unbalanced, which is a shame.
One major problem for me was how the romance between Catherine and Vincent is initially handled.
The first season consists almost entirely of case-of-the-week stories combined with stolen moments of giddy romance on Catherines terrace.
The shows make-up is also something to applaud, courtesy of Academy Award winner Rick Baker.
Could this be the perfect time forBeauty and the Beastto make a return?
Possibly, but its unlikely that the new version can ever replace its namesakes place in telly-fans hearts.
