Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid head up Legion, a dumb B-movie that still manages to just about entertain…
The initial setting ofLegionjust screamsMaximum Overdrive, and thats far from the only parallel.
For the unfamiliar, thats horror author Stephen Kings first and only time behind the camera as a director.
Still, what results is a damn entertaining flick that King himself describes as a moron movie.
Michael (Paul Bettany) is an angel.
Or rather, he was an angel.
Gods sick of us humans ruining everything Hes given to us, so Hes going to destroy the world.
Not with fire or flood, but with angels.
Id say its a small town diner, but theres no town to be seen.
Legionis far from a smart movie.
Its a pretty dumb B-movie thats going to make for an excellent Rifftrax some day.
I mean, Bettany is a little creepy-looking, but hes been nominated for multiple BAFTAs!
Charles S. Dutton and Dennis Quaid are very well-respected character actors.
Legionalso tends to fall into the trap of the handicam shooting style that is so prevalent these days.
I cant say thatLegionis a good movie.
It loses itself in too many standard moments and has a little too much predictability for that.
However, it wasnt boring.
