Karyn Kusama interview: XX, women in horror, scary movies in times of adversity

Its something director Karyn Kusama knows better than most.

as a fait accompli.

Can I ask about the budget and timescale for the project?

Did you have much time to put it together, or…?

[laughs] Not much time and not much money.

So it was crazy but it was also a fun thing to be doing for a couple of weeks.

What was the brief forXX?

How did you get involved with the anthology in the first place?

I was working onThe Invitationwith XYZ Films.

But culture, and the stories were told, really shape the way we think about the world.

It can be about belief systems too.

Its all pretty depressing and frightening.

Hopefully well get to see some of that shape.

Speaking of movies that are going to be made, what are you working on next?

Have you found thatThe Invitationhas opened doors for you?

I feel really blessed.

Its the thought behind it.

If I can do those three things Ive won the war.

There are so many women in horror!

I will pay any price to see what the director ofRawwill do next.

Its just simple at this point.
