Batman costumes have come a long way since the days of Michael Keaton.
We didnt expect to have 14 minutes to chat with Affleck about donning the cowl for a second time.

This sounds like a different Batman a little bit that battles flying monkeys.
Hes got a little bit of an attitude.
Yes, and a little bit more sardonic humor, a little more irony.
That kind of colored the whole character, that sort of rage that possessed him.
Now, hes on a mission to get this group together to constitute this League.
[He has] more of that sort of Bruce Wayne wry, ironic gallows humor coming out.
Does he still have a hard time playing with others?
Yeah, you know, thats the interesting thing about this Batman.
And he doesnt have huge success initially.
He may rub some people the wrong way or they rub him the wrong way.
Hes got to learn how to play well with others; he barely plays well with Alfred!
Theres an element of that to it.
Its a little bit of that natural yin and yang to playing scenes with him.
[Laughs] Its not his natural state of being, so thats really fun.
Its been really, really cool.
One of the things that is really well done aboutBvSis your fight scenes.
How are you ramping up from that to this in terms of seeing what Batman can do?
We have the same guys who choreographed and came up with those [stunts].
Its kind of like getting a great composer, you know what I mean?
Its almost a separate thing, that fighting combat, that then layers onto the movie.
If it works, it feels like its flawlessly integrated into it.
How couldStar Warsexist without that music, you know what I mean?
Youre also an executive producer on this.
How does that change your role?
Do you have more ownership on Batman now?
Why Im an executive producer is because Im directing another line of the movies.
So, theres an example of something that might potentially exist in that story.
So, I get to weigh in on stuff that [affects] the Batman stuff.
How big of a role does Geoff Johns have in this?
Geoff is a big part of things, DCs a big part of things.
Hes not here now, hes having a baby.
And Jon Berg as well has a big role.
Really, this is Zacks movie, and were here executing Zacks vision.
I think all the great Batman stories are at their heart detective stories.
How are we going to work together successfully through a multilateralist [scenario]?
ObviouslyThe Dark Knight Returnsis a big influence onBvS, and thats sort of an end of Batman story.
Batman quits at the end, but youre making a movie after that.
But Im working with Terrio, and Geoff Johns, and obviously Zack.
But one of the things is you obviously cant go past the end.
[Hes] starting over reborn and believing, and finding hope.
I can definitely say that, and that starts him off.
Thats his core mission here.
This is a good idea.
What would you say are the biggest changes by comparison between these two movies?
Theres definitely room for more humor.
And people trying to accomplish goals together is the root of all great comedy in my view.
We know theres Steppenwolf, weve heard about Mother Boxes, weve seen this concept art for Parademons.
Is there an element for Batman to now be like, Im getting too old for this shit?
Like this universe is just not one Kryptonian or one monster, but its a lot of stuff?
Well, its getting too old for this shit or I need help with this shit!
[Laughs] Its like the guys getting way out of his league.
Batman is kind of the leader of the group.
Is there any kind of challenge from the other members to his leadership?
I mean, Aquamans a king.
I wouldnt imagine him taking orders from anyone.
You know Jason Momoa, hes got a very strong, stubborn, independent, powerful energy.
So, its not an easy ride trying to get this group to come together.
And this [movie] is not really about that issue for him so much anymore.
A lot of people are looking forward to your solo Batman movie.
Do you have a timeframe when you might want to see it in theaters?
I think they have a date for it.
It doesnt pan out.
[Laughs]
Can you tell us where you are in the scripting process?
I had a script.
Lets go bang this out!
