But its a great relief.
Im really happy with the movie.
Im really pleased with how its all turned out.
Yeah, its written by a very talented man, Sylvester Stallone.
Hes one of the great writers.
I think people forget how many great films hes written.
You know, he wroteCliffhanger, he wrote all of theRockys, all of theRambos, all of theExpendablesfilms.
Its like a library of mega-success.
He just comes with a stamp of quality.
When you mention Stallone you know its going to be decent.
Better than decent, you know?
All the characters in it have a great thing to do.
I grew up on Stallone.
He got a little distracted, otherwise this wouldnt be around.
Little did I know Id end up doing it.
It was a massive opportunity for me.
I actually wanted to ask you about the actress Isabella, who plays your daughter Maddie in the movie.
She was really good in this.
She came out of nowhere.
She did an audition that just killed everybody.
She did this really emotional scene where she talks about losing her mom.
It was just a ten out of ten audition.
Just, there was no consideration for anybody else.
It was that good.
But the role hes playing, hes a villain, but hes kind of out of his depth.
Do you think thats what attracted him to that role?
You never know what hes interested in.
The guy does everything.
Hes so unpredictable in life and hes so unpredictable on screen.
I think thats what makes him so interesting.
He plays an un-stereotypical villain who has this unpredictable nature.
How does it differ for you from movies likeParkerorHummingbird, where youre the lone central role?
Its great, you’ve got the option to turn up, fart around and its no pressure.
But, at the same time, you lose an element.
Youre working with a small crew.
For me its the best kind of work, I love it.
Actually, Ive read about this.
This is part of your new production company that youve started.
Thats the situation were in; were trying to find things in case shit dont land on your lap.
This is the spirit of Stallone coming through; taking a bit of control.
[Laughs] Yeah.
Hes too much of an influence on me.
Im sure you cant tell me anything about the newFast And Furiousmovie.
This one has Tony Jaa in it, right?
Yeah, I love Tony Jaa.
Hes one of the best and most capable martial arts stuntmen in the world.
Have you seenOng Bak?
I have, its crazy.
Hes something else, isnt he?
Yeah, I made a good friend out of him.
Im so happy I got to meet him.
A sort of movie where its like a two hander.
So, for me, that would be terrific.
I think there would be a lot of people whod be very pleased to see that one.
I know Id be very keen to.
Were trying to do that.
Some things have a way.
Well, you have your production company now.
you’re able to make this happen.
Yeah, weve just got to find the script.
Unfortunately I dont have the talent of Stallone, Im not a writer, so putting the story together.
We can hire somebody.
This is a chance to make it work.
Is that something youve consciously been looking for?
Obviously you want to stretch yourself and do things that are a little out of your comfort zone.
I think theyve done a TV show already.
Its not played in the UK, but it was a British guy who played Frank Martin.
Yeah, youve got to look him up.
The question I was leading towards was, have you ever been interested in pursuing a television role?
You never know whats around the corner.
Listen, the TV world is not what it used to be.
I mean, the quality has become something quite exceptional.
Did you seeBreaking Bad?
I know the quality is there.
A lot of good actors are turning to TV.
But if your career is going well on the big screen theres no need for a change.
And you dont have to work so hard.
Its hard to predict where theyre going to make the TV show.
So, that can be problematic.
Amongst your films, do you have a favorite?
Those two films, Lock Stock and Snatch were just such a great thing for me.
And I also likeThe Bank Job.
The Bank Jobfor me, was a great opportunity for me to do some good acting, you know?
Other people might people might dispute that fact (laughs).
