Heres Charlottes DVD review…
Its Kind Of A Funny Storydeals with mental illness, depression and suicide.
Unlikely candidates for a heartfelt comedy but surprisingly, thats just what this film provides.
Here he meets a group of people unlike any hes ever met.
As the story progresses we learn more and its easier to understand where hes coming from.
Keir Gilchrist doesnt overplay a character whos deeply troubled.
He keeps it honest and real, which is where many quirky comedies fail.
Playing opposite Keir is Emma Roberts, who proves shes someone to watch in the future.
Her character is strange and sweet and she shows she has leading lady ability.
Although this isnt as bleak, it retains the core humanity elements thatHalf Nelsondealt with.
New Yorks influence pops up through flashbacks, dream scenarios and a lovely end scene that overlooks the city.
Its beautifully done and gives this isolated world a real connection to something bigger.
Theres also a fantastic cast rendition of Queen and David BowiesUnder Pressurethat shows genuine warmth and fun.
If onlyGleewas like this, maybe Id watch it.
