Oscar-nominated WWII drama In Darkness is out in the UK this Friday.
Heres our review of a flawed yet uplifting film…
Attempting to write aboutIn Darknessis a tricky proposition.
WhereIn Darknessfalters, though, is in its pacing and cinematography.
Having said this, some of the acting really does cut through the murk.
Wickiewicz provides a robust lead performance, as does Kinga Preis, who plays his wife Wanda.
The most impressive turn, however, comes from German actor Benno Furmann.
With any luck, the attention ofIn Darknesswill provide Furmann with some meatier roles in the future.
Such flaws mean thatIn Darknessis far from perfect, but its still a commendable, sometimes moving film.
