We deconstruct the Halo: Nightfall trailer, and speculate on how it all connects to Halo 5.

Interestingly enough, the source of the virus can be found somewhere on an old Halo ring.

Here are some tidbits from the trailer that may give clues about the plots ofNightfallandHalo 5: Guardians.

Agent Locke

Main character Jameson Locke will also be a playable character inHalo 5: Guardians.

So far, we know that hes a SPARTAN-IV agent working for the Office of Naval Intelligence.

Hes also described as a manhunter.

Hes shown wielding a pistol and a DMR.

Hes on his quest to revive Cortana, after all.

Maybe they know more about the new element, and the planet Sedra, than they let on.

Whatever happens, we know this is a setup forHalo 5and Lockes personality within the game.

The Team

Second billing inNightfallgoes to actor Steve Waddington.

He wears dogtags and uses an assault rifle.

Christina Chong plays Talitha Macer, Lockes fellow soldier.

According to her uniform, she has blood pop in AB positive.

In the expanded universe, its said to be slowly falling into its local sun.

That could explain the fiery look of the broken Halo arm in the trailer.

So, is the disease a human creation?

If so, why was it brought to a Halo ring?

One character, possibly Aiken, is shown sitting by a bedside at the very beginning of the trailer.

Nightfalllooks aesthetically similar toAlienandHalo: Forward Unto Dawn, with washes of color and dark or black shadows.
