So you sawGhostwatchwhen you were 7 years old and it obviously mustve had an impact…

It didnt really affect me, in all honesty, at the time of transmission.
I remember being very interested by it but not wholly understanding all of it.
We actually had a tape of it and I didnt even want to look at it.
When you were going through the tapes, youd know you were holding theGhostwatchone without even looking.
So I thought why dont you psyche yourself up in different ways?
How did you get access to everyone involved?
Theyd more or less remained in touch for the most part.
Parky was very much on board, which was a great morale boost.
I have to ask, while you were shooting it, did anything weird happen?
But later, I went to look at my watch and my watch had stopped!
It was utterly bizarre and I did end up missing the last train back but it was worth it.
Why do you think that is, that the public interest inGhostwatchendures?
Ive never seen audiences react to anything in the same way.
Maybe its my blinkered cinema experience but I have literally seen the popcorn fly withGhostwatch!
But its all about projection I think.
What you bring toGhostwatchis what you take away.
If you want to see a horror, its a horror.
If you want to see a satire, its a satire.
If you want to see straight drama, even.
However you enjoy it, I dont mind as long as you enjoy it.
Do you think now, in this age of scepticism, could something likeGhostwatchbe done?
What do you think it takes to make people believe you now though?
We had no text messages.
Which is something they didnt want to face.
The guy who famously says I enjoyed it but you shouldnt have made it!
Its like they havent got there yet.
They havent fully appreciated the reasonwhytheyre upset.
I mean, it happened to me.
Why am I doing this?
I think it would probably be closer to something like the VR thing thats happening now?
Something a bit further on in the future anyway.
How long have you been doing that?
Our sixth one will be on Monday and honestly I cant recall how it came about.
Its all about bringing people together in any way I could and getting awareness out there.
I did very little, in all fairness, with the Annual Seance.
I just put the word out.
There was no paid marketing.
I just said lets see what happens.
On the 20th Anniversary one, in 2012, it was just through the roof.
We were trending at #4 on Twitter which was unbelievable.
Anything weird happen during a seance yet?
Maybe a flying sandwich or two?
Usually someone will mention the cheese and pickle sandwich but Ive yet to actually see one.
Although I live in hope.
Is there anything else youve got lined up?
Is it Ghostwatch related or are you done now?
I really hope that works because I think it would be tremendous.
As regards to continuingGhostwatchin some form or another though, not at the moment.
I see bits of it in my minds eye and I just think wow, thatd be cool.
I think those characters are just really fantastic actually.
But concrete, no, theres nothing much.
Id love for something special and exciting to happen next year.
Weve talked about aGhostwatchConvention even although that probably wont happen… You never know though.
Rich Lawden, thank you very much!
