What side of the old laws would we suddenly find ourselves, if faced with life-and-death decisions?

Characters like Travis cling tenaciously to their principles even at the risk of appearing weak.

Like Nick, Chris is adapting to a harsh reality in which the dead walk among the living.

But theres no wry optimism here, no oddly playful sense of adventure.

And second, because it became apparent that Chris was determined to continue down this dark path.

This was codified in last weeks Pillar of Salt, after he killed the farmer.

And that is just heartbreaking.

I was actually a bit relieved when Travis and Chris finally parted ways.

Like I said, heartbreaking stuff.

Thats cold, even for theWalking Deaduniverse.

He wasnt broken, he insists, he was adapting.

Even so, Madison has Travis beat when it comes to holding ones children at arms length.

If not for Madisons confession, I would have enjoyed this episode a lot more.

So why should we care that theyre finally together again?

If so, I think this could have been illustrated better throughout the latter half of this season.

Travis wasnt just burying an innocent man, he was burying the very last of Chriss innocence.

This episode could have easily been called Dead Weight (or even Dead Wait).

He was the most humane of the Chill Bros of the Apocalypse.
