Since the early 00s, theEvolution Championship Serieshas been like the Olympics of one-on-one fighting games.
The three-day event will return once again on July 31-August 2 to the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
As usual, it will feature a lineup of nine fighting games.
Several fan-favorite games will return for another year.
First off,Mortal Kombat 11is no more!
Despite a healthy amount of entries last year,Mortal Kombat 11isnt on the menu this time around.
Also gone isBlazBlue Cross Tag Battle.
Well, eight games.Marvel vs. Capcom 2has its own special thing going on.
More on that in a second.
For the first time sinceStreet Fighter Vs introduction, it wasnt the main event at Evo.
On February 14, the game will be upgradedfromStreet Fighter V: Arcade EditiontoChampion Edition.
Evo included it again in 2016, thanks to the upgradeTekken 7: Fated Retribution.
More characters and updates have been released since then, but this might beTekken 7s undoing.
Part of the games charm is the guest characters it announces at each show.
Two years ago, the big addition wasThe Walking Deads Negan.
Dragon Ball FighterZcoming back is slightly surprising, but it has its following.
Super Smash Bros.
It then smashed records and became a mainstay at Evo,Super Smash Bros. for Wii Ube damned.
Ultimatewas one of the most popular games of Evo 2019, securing its place in this years tournament.
It also replacedStreet Fighter Vas the main event of the tournament.Ultimateis very much here to stay.

But Bandai Namcos classic weapon-based fighter has finally made its long-awaited return to Evo, and its a no-brainer.
In 2019, the title returned as a fully-formed game with tons of content.
Unfortunately,SoulCalibur VIdidnt make a massive impact on the gaming community.
Luckily, the game inspired some solid competition.
But the game is perhaps best known for being part of theBlazBlue Cross Tag Battlecrossover.
Theres an update coming out in February that will re-balance the gameplay and introduce a new character.
That this fighter-that-could is pushingBlazBlue Cross Tag Battleout the door is rather impressive.
Being developed by Arc System Works, it unsurprisingly looks damn good in action.

Evo 2020 is poised to be one hell of a trial run for this newcomer.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Marvel vs. Capcom 2was a huge staple in Evos early years.
Eventually, it was replaced byMarvel vs. Capcom 3andUltimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
TheMarvelfighting game franchise was dead, or so it seemed.
Its an all-star competition that will feature some of the games former champions.
