The series premiere of Syfys Dark Matter lacks punch but still manages to hint at great things to come.
Delicious, but a bit flat.
It makes sense, though, right?
The characters dont know who they are, so neither does the audience; no one is fleshed out.
Actually, though, these two female members of the crew are the true standouts in this premiere episode.
Unfortunately, I cant include Zoie Palmer in the list of strong women not yet anyway.
This seed, planted subtly in this initial episode, gives me hope for some thought-provoking storylines to come.
Likewise, the secret door and the kids strange dreams introduce the promise of future intrigue.
Im sure thats intentional, but it makes it difficult to place the danger in any context.
So how can I fault a premiere thats vague by design?
Well, mainly its this: because it didnt suck me in.
Ive really been looking forward to this show and was ready to be wowed; I just wasnt.
