Hes aided terrifically by the supporting cast, of which the standout is surely George Kennedy.

Its a film that deliberately takes some time to tell its story, but its time very well spent.

But dont let anyone tell you thatCool Hand Lukeis anything but Newmans film.

Lets start with the image transfer, which for the vast majority of the running time is very good.

Its a mono track, although we dont have a major problem with that.

Its a retrospective piece, and director Stuart Rosenberg contributed before his death.

And while the documentary doesnt dig particularly deep, its still interesting enough.

The only other extra to entertain yourself with is the theatrical trailer.

Perhaps someday theres a true in-depth special edition ofCool Hand Luketo come, but this really isnt it.

The disc may not be essential, but the film absolutely is.
