Den Of Geek loves Paul Giamatti.
But how does he fare in Cold Souls?

Just like the real worlds Giamatti, this character is a famous American actor of stage and screen.
Giamatti is starring in a worthy stage play of ChekhovsUncle Vanya, but cant hook into the character.
Obviously, the choice of Chekhovs tale of disappointment and underachievement is no random selection.
If youre feeling slight reverberations of 1999sBeing John Malkovich, were right there with you.
Theres another side to the film, too, though.
The issue here is that no central part ofCold Soulsfeels quite developed enough.
In spite of a few laugh-inducing moments, this quirky comedy just isnt quite funny enough.
The rest ofCold Soulsis all a bit too vague to leave all that much of an impression on you.
Just plain funny would have been enough, butCold Soulshas aspirations beyond chuckles.
Still, the unusual premise and the Giamatti factor do makeCold Soulsworth a watch.
However, it doesnt fulfill the initial promise set up by its intriguing concept and strong cast.
