Despite his superficial grubbiness, Bale infused the character with charm and dignity, bagging himself a well-deserved Oscar.
Not that the character is weak.
These are crucial qualities to showcase as Bale moves towards acting veteranship.
Christian Bale can become more than a fondly-regarded acting veteran.
To help him along the way, lets give the man another Oscar.
