Heres why we love the new Spidey so much…

This article contains major spoilers forCaptain America: Civil War.

(Fun fact: Holland apparently flipped on cue during his audition, getting the Russos attention immediately.)

Billions in box office cash may well await, and hopefully some critical acclaim and audience adoration to boot.

It was tough gig, not least because everyone has their own opinions on what Peter Parker should be.

But, thankfully,Civil Warpulled it off.

The results of Sony and Marvels team-up were brilliant.

Or should we say amazing, or astonishing, or spectacular, or superior?

Or any other Spidey-related adjective?

And so, Tom Holland has to make an impact without swinging around.

The first shot we see of Hollands Peter is from behind.

Hes getting out of a lift, and hes clutching a DVD player under his arm.

Hes wearing a tattered-looking backpack.

He gets his keys out and enters an apartment.

Theyre from Leeds.)

However, despite the lack of dialogue in this scene, were told a lot about Peter through imagery.

From the electrical equipment, we can surmise that hes smart.

Maybe hes building something.

Naturally, Peter is taken aback.

Hes a shy, nervous guy and a global celebrity has shown up unannounced to flirt with his aunt.

Tony reminds Peter of the grant which he applied for, whilst winking furiously to establish the ruse.

is a welcome recap of what makes Peter so unique among superheroes.

Peter and Tony move the conversation to the privacy of the formers bedroom.

Tony looks around and clocks Peters ancient computer.

Peter admits that he found it in the garbage, again highlighting that the Parkers arent a wealthy family.

Everything Pete has, hes had to scrape together without much financial support.

This makes it even more impressive that hes managed to build his own web-shooters.

He must be smart if hes made those on a Parker family budget.

Peter leaps into action and tries to hide it.

Its a brief moment of physical comedy, which in a way draws to mind Andrew Garfields practical humour.

Words tumble out of Peters mouth frantically.

Shes the only relative he has left and he doesnt want her to be dragged into his superhero ways.

Its great to see thatCivil Wardidnt ignore Peters conscience altogether, or neglect to acknowledge his sad family history.

/ Ive got homework!).

With Peter established so well through the scenes in Queens, this doesnt feel too rushed.

It also helps, of course, that weve seen Peters origin story multiple times before.

Immediately, the difference between Peter and Spidey is made clear.

The line Cap, err… Capn!

raises a big laugh, and also highlights Petes enhanced social skills when hes in the suit.

Spider-Man has always been a wish-fulfilment character for awkward teenagers.

; What are your wings made out of?

; and, who could forget, Remember that really old movie,Empire Strikes Back?

a line which made all of us watching feel ruddy ancient.

Speaking of Spideys Hoth moment, this wasntjustfunny: it was also another indicator of Peters intelligence.

One other moment from the airport scene really stood out, as well.

When Spidey says to Cap youre wrong, think youre right… that makes you dangerous.

Hes a hero too, and keen to stand up for what he believes in.

Peter discovered the Spider-Signal on his web-shooter, and also shared a bit of dialogue with Aunt May.

Thats if she hasnt worked it out already, which is also a possibility.

Either way, these actors have great chemistry, both with each other and with Robert Downey Jnr.
