Riverdale has an opportunity to tell diverse kinds of stories when it comes to sexual identity.
Will it take it?
But where does the kiss between Betty and Veronica that happens in theRiverdaleseries premiere fit into comic book canon?
And where does it fit into the show?
We chatted with Camila Mendes (Veronica) about the moment during a set visit back in October.
I think that was a way to kind of get Cheryls attention, you know?
Veronica is a manipulative person.
She just kind of wanted to take hold of the situation.
Maybe thats something that could be explored one day.
Its not something weve really decided on.
But, if it were the case, why not?
Its just in our show, theyre not romantically involved… Theyre soulmates in a friends way.
Our show is not meant to be fan fiction.
We give them a taste of it when they kiss, but thats all it is.
People love Beronica and they want to see them together, but thats just not our show.
Will Riverdales Jughead be asexual?
PerhapsRiverdalewill diversify its depiction of sexuality in other ways.
However, Cole Sprouse (Jughead) recentlyspoke to HollywoodLifeabout the shows decision to change Jugheads character.
Although he is asexual in the comics, he wont be in the TV adaptation.
But at the end of the day, I still had to do my job.
Jughead will have romances with women .
They just didnt have a label for it, so they just called him a woman-hater.
But hes not a misogynist he just watches his cohorts lose their minds with hormones.
