Archers sixth season comes to an end with a high-stakes from foot to brain.
Here’s our review…
The experience of reviewingArchercan be frustrating.
To borrow a metaphor from Drastic Voyage Part IIs brain setting:Archeris all left-brain.
It loves to hear itself talk.
This is certainly not a problem because it is so, so good at it.
Drastic Voyage: Part II is an example ofArchergone right.
Witness where our characters go geographically in just the span of an hour.
Thats not a half-hour comedy thats aLord of the Ringsjourney by way of Cronenberg.
Archer proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that parenthood has not and will not change him.
Ray… well Ray gets paralyzed again in an effort to prove that hes not racist.
Its even better when theyre surrounded by characters who outright hate them.
Slaters exasperated disbelief that hes trapped in a submarine with these people is great.
As is Dr. Skodowskas weird sexual proclivities.
Archer doesnt need to change constantly so much of the shows charm is derived from repetition and inside humor.
It does, however, need to continually move forward.
Season six didnt always follow this lesson to a T but Drastic Voyage: Part II nails the dismount.
Gillete, slip it in nice and easy.
Ughhh can we even do thats what she said?
I would not have minded if this were the last line of the season.
