One minute its relying heavily on cliches and tropes and the next its being genuinely creepy or emotionally touching.
And then there are times when the show is just plain ridiculous.
Take this weeks episode for instance.

This trope pops up anytime writers want a character to commit a murder without losing the audiences favor.
We dont need every bad thing that our main characters do to be morally justifiable.
Rarely is a character like Liz Taylor handled so respectfully and realistically.
What else could John be getting up to when hes blacked out?
The vampires turned waaaay too fast.
What kind of a dick criticizes a kids picture?
OK, at this point Im convinced that the sun doesnt do shit to these vampires.
