Superhero Movie review

The latest in the spoof Movies genre leaves Duncan cold. Broken boiler in the middle of a particularly cold winter cold. It seems like such a lazy process as to be almost offensive in its regard for the audience,. Believe it or not that only took seconds to come up with too. And Pamela Anderson only appeared for a minute or two. Rating: 1 out of 5

The Boys: Get Some (Vol 2) review

Paul checks out the second volume of Garth Ennis' The Boys. And quite likes it, too… Billy Butcher and Wee Hughie are the lead investigators in these two tales that form Volume Two. InGet Some, a young gay man has been murdered and the activities of two superheroes come under scrutiny. The scarcely disguised references to a certain caped crusader offer no sophistication either. Never easy bed fellows. With the help of big business, Butcher hopes to clean things up....

The Den Of Geek interview: Nicholas Courtney

It’s the Brig! Talking to Den Of Geek! Ad content continues below Haha! I was told about that. Quite what the Brigadiers doing in Peru, I dont know. Stranded, or something. Well, who knows? No-ones told me anything. It does seem odd that they mentioned the name. Maybe they are thinking of giving me a special some time or other. Is that something youd be interested in doing? Oh I think so, yes....

Iron Man Nintendo DS review

It’s an underwhelming movie tie-in game! And the Iron Man has made some fundamental mistakes… The DSs unique form factor offers all sorts of opportunities for imaginative developers to create exciting and original videogames. At heart,Iron Manis a bog-standard, blow-up-the-baddies affair in which you play the eponymous Marvel character. The films plot is thrown in too, of course, but it didnt have to be. Just shoot the enemies you dont need to know why....

Space Ace Blu-ray game review

Don Bluth’s Space Ace was never a great game, but it was always an impressive one. So is there any need to bring it over to Blu-ray? I know that its possible to make games with video disc systems. So now Blu-ray gets the laserdisc treatment, with the conversion of the Don Bluth arcade titleSpace Ace. Its a sequel to the breakthrough laserdisc titleDragons Lair, released some four months afterwards....

Coffee Rush game review

But guess what, I really couldnt give a shit. And I dont own a Wii so Im not bothered about Wii Fit either. And indeed, games that even Tanya Byron would approve of. This time Im rating Coffee Rush. Coffee Rush is essentially a match-3, but with a difference. you could also offer them sandwiches and salads to go alongside this and maximise your profits. So I suppose its a mixture between Bejeweled and Cake Mania....

Review – New extras on Indiana Jones trilogy

The results are occasionally impressive, but the production footage makes for less than exciting viewing.

Speed Racer review

The Wachowski brothers finally follow up on their Matrix trilogy with Speed Racer. Russell loved it, but check out DoG’s second opinion from Ben Lankester… Those who have seen the trailer will know the drill. This is a fast, loud, ruthlessly coloured exercise in pushing CGI to its absolute limit. The thrill of car racing is delivered in four outrageously frenetic sequences. But to be fair to The Wachowskis, they do give it their all....

Absolutely! Gordon Kennedy interview

No, we never described it as a Scottish show, though others have. There were four Scottish people, so it definitely had a Scottish flavour. So it was other people who decided to call it a Scottish show we never did. Did anyone ever come up with good material that just wasnt suitable for the show? Not at all the style was what we thought was funny. Unlike now, there was very little editing done by Channel Four they just trusted our judgement....

The Bruce Willis ready reckoner

The long awaited arrival of Mr Willis into the Den Of Geek ready reckoner chair. I bloody love Bruce Willis I do. Hes a genre-spanner, lending his hand to action, comedy, er, action-comedy, sci-fi and suspense. He also made my favourite film of all time. Even I have to admit though, its not all been a bed of roses for Bruno… Blind Date Bruce back when he was young and charming....

Suburban Glamour trade paperback review

This is what happens when you mix Gaimanesque fantasy with smart hip British teens, I guess. Youd never guess that McKelvie was a first time writer, though. Rating: 4 out of 5

Iron Man review

The buzz surroundingIron Manhas been unmissable lately. But this isIron Mannot the Science Channel so we can let it slide. The Pixar ready reckoner

Excellent characters and an involving narrative make up for a slightly flat visual look in this now timeless classic. Its the latter thats the better movie. Again, brilliant performances from Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, and Kelsey Grammer as Stinky Pete. Even better animation and rendering, too. Ad content continues below Monsters, Inc.Exceptionally underrated movie, built around a simple but uber-cool premise. Beautiful colours, clever sight gags and amazing character design takes this to Pixars top shelf....
