A fresh spin on the fighting genre hits the NIntendo DS. Michael checks out Bleach: Dark Souls… As they beam with hope and guffaw with unfettered joy, I skulk back to my shadowy hovel alone. On one level, therefore, playingBleach: Dark Soulsis a fools errand. Like many licensed games from the manga-anime world of geekery, it is an exercise in straightforward niche appeal. Unlike film tie-ins and other cash-grabs,Dark Soulsis utter fan service....
And its got Daleks in it. As discussed above, the infrequency of Dalek stories means Baxendale had a fair weight on his shoulders. The pace barrels along. If youre familiar with the style, you cant help buthearit. It made me smile, anyway. Prisoner of the Daleksis an easy read, and doesnt require a knowledge of previous books to enjoy. Rating: 4 out of 5
Philip checks out the accompanying music to the Watchmen movie - but is score or soundtrack the best choice? Anybody whos seen theWatchmenfilm no doubt has strong feelings about the elaborate musical sequences. The first, the original score, is the one more likely to be overlooked. Its instead a sort of self-conscious mimicry that intends to discover a beating heart at the core of banality. & The Sunshine BandsIm Your Boogie Man, for example....
Only the dialogue (eventually) makes this clear. The same applies for the scene later on when the Doctor and Amy arrive at a new location. It is also here that the drama falls apart somewhat. Overall, the effect of this episode is somewhat middling compared to the strong opener. Fingers crossed that the writing is more to the fore than the bit players in Episode Three!

Before now theyve chiefly been known for racing simulators aimed at the PC gaming hardcore. Extreme realism was the order of the day with theGTRandRACEseries, and so too with this Xbox 360 exclusive. I find myself in an awkward position in reviewing this game. The 13 courses in the game are all accurately modelled on tracks from around the world. Beyond that, I can only suggest you try the demo and see what you think....

Do forgive me for drawing similarities twixt the two. Both of these early misgivings soon fell away for three different reasons, however. Firstly, Peter Davison plays the Doctor unbelievably well. Her rapport with Davison is also something to be noted. The third reason as to why my misgivings fell away are due to the main set. The review of episode two will be here on Monday….!
