(500) Days of Summer review

This is not a love story, declares the opening narration of (500) Days Of Summer. And watch out for a terrific Harrison Ford reference that brings a smile a mile wide. Central to this is Gordon-Levitt. If Deschanel feels a little sidelined and underwhelming by comparison, then its not all her fault. Elsewhere though, the film has a supporting cast that adds a winning mix of laughs and heart. While dependable supporting player Clark Gregg has a handful of nicely played comedy moments as Toms boss....

The 10 worst comic book adaptations of all time

His most challenging villains are basically goons, the most memorable being a cross-dressing coin thief. Stan Lee reportedly hated this bastardisation of his creation…nuff said. Dr Strange(1978)None of us is ever alone. So the concept of a TV series about his exploits seemed an appealing way to increase his profile. John Holmes lookalike Peter Hooten, whom you wont remember from the originalInglorious Bastards, is Dr Strange. His Merlin-lite mentor and co-star is Sir John Mills, whom you will remember as British acting royalty....

The James Clayton Column: Alien Enterprises

I dont think we need to worry about this one. In fact, Im willing to bet that it will be absolutely ace. If you thought that the xenomorphic alien was the big baddie in all theAlienmovies, youd be wrong. The ultimate evil, of course, is the Weyland-Yutani organisation. Metaphorically speaking, onThe ApprenticeWeyland-Yutani would be the Sir Allan Sugar figure. So The bitch is back, to quote the publicity ofAlien3. Is the bitch Ripley or the eponymous parasite?...

The Scarifyers: Curse Of The Black Comet audio CD review

Brian Blessed, Nicholas Courtney and Terry Molloy headline a terrific audio adventure… In 1923, ebullient adventurer, archaeologist and scholar Sir Basil Champion is exploring the tomb of Queen Nefertiti. Battlestar Galactica season 1 episode 3 review: Bastille Day

Simon continues his adventure through Battlestar Galactica from scratch, and finds the pace slips slightly… 3. Instead, this is an episode more about the conflicts within humanity itself. Then you had a run through one or two prison cliches, not least the intimidation of Cally....
