1941 Special Edition DVD review

Is Spielbergs Christmas Turkey better received on this special edition DVD release? As for the critical arrows thrown in its direction, these are fair game. If people arent screaming at each other one minute, theyre blowing things up the next. And yet, I can equally see why the film has achieved cult status. There is much to admire about1941, not least Dan Aykroyds marvellous performance as Sgt Frank Tree. John Belushi deserves mention for obvious reasons....

Doctor Who: Dreamland DVD review

Send presents c/o Den Of Geek) 1947… Cue the theme music. Can the Doctor, Cassie and Jimmy rescue the Greys and save Roswell from the Viperox..? Answers on a postcard, like. ), and a seam of humour a mile wide at the episodes core. Thats not to say there arent a few clunkers. And, of course, theres some Scottish bloke playing the Doctor. Pandorum DVD review

The small supporting cast is equally effective as strong willed survivors. Again, as with so many of this bang out of featurette, its too short! It would have been nice to have some commentary or onscreen notes, though. Film: Pandorumwill be released on February 1 and can bepre-ordered from the Den Of Geek Store. Rating: 4 out of 5

Legion review

Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid head up Legion, a dumb B-movie that still manages to just about entertain… The initial setting ofLegionjust screamsMaximum Overdrive, and thats far from the only parallel. For the unfamiliar, thats horror author Stephen Kings first and only time behind the camera as a director. Still, what results is a damn entertaining flick that King himself describes as a moron movie. Michael (Paul Bettany) is an angel....

Resident Evil Archives: Zero Wii review

Aiding her is Billy Coen, an escaped military prisoner whos found himself involved in the zombie-filled events. However,Zero does have a couple of unique mechanics, most notably the partner system. During the majority of the game youll be in control of both Rebecca and Billy. Characters arent limited to the same screen, and can be left in totally different locations. Another change is the item system. As far as the rest of the game goes, this is vintageResi....

Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade Of Cartoon Comedy DVD review

Thats not a bad thing. But maybe, withCavalcade Of Cartoon Comedy, the Noughties Matt Groening has finally found his perfect paradigm. Smokin’ Aces Blu-ray review

Joe Carnahan’s crazy action movie gets a Blu-ray upgrade. Overall, the cast are extremely capable and carry the messy script with enthusiasm. Nothing on the Mafia, not enough on the shooting and too little of what is there. The Line-Up is a 13 minute character exploration piece with the actors explaining their characters. Cowboy Ending has the final moments of the film played differently. Instead of pulling the plug, Messner shoots Israel and Sparazza....
