Street Hawk DVD review

Was it, for some reason, a lot better show than it intended to be? Or the acting or effects must have stood out for my nine-year-old brain to have recalled so much. On second viewing, its just a generic show with a nifty looking motorbike. A sort of police-styled Eddie Kidd, if you will. Really, whats not to love? All leading to a final showdown, the bad guy, and comedy freeze frame moment at the end....

The Music Of ITC (Television Soundtrack Compilation) review

As a consequence, many TV themes are close approximations of the originals. These days there is a genuine interest in the original themes as heard on TV. Of course, not being around in 1964 (let alone old enough to watchDanger Man!) I only had The Bob Leaper version to determine how the actual theme sounded. This is true of so many other Sixties themes. Lew Grade established ITC in 1955 to produce popular escapist dramas for the fledgling ITV....

Triangle DVD review

She has an autistic son, lives by herself and is stressed. Aboard the yacht, everything is going well, despite some concerns over Jess mental state. Shortly, they manage to board a cruise liner that appears creepily deserted and out of time. It doesnt kill the film by any means. Its just a bit of a disappointment. Far stronger are the scenes aboard the cruiser, where narrow corridors add to the sense of claustrophobia....

Dante’s Inferno review

Chris has battled to the end of Dante’s Inferno and back. But would he recommend it? Essentially, what you have here is an excellent and, dare I say, originalidea for a game. But lets start off by looking at the positives, because ultimately I really did enjoy playing this game. Speaking of all this, I should remind you that this game is an 18 rating for a reason. Ill say no more to save any real spoilers....

Day Of The Dead Blu-ray review

The film differs drastically from Romeros original vision. (Copies of the original script are available online and make for great reading.) If the movie could have been made as originally intended, no doubt it would have been extraordinary. Its also one that Romero has stated is his favourite of his original trilogy. The issue addressed here is vivisection and its handled incredibly well. Heres hopingNight Of The Living Deadgets similar treatment in the not too distant future....

Case 39 review

Delayed for two years on its journey to big screen, Glen catches a screening of Case 39. Did it deserve a better fate? Emily fights to have the girl removed from her parents custardy, but struggles without the sufficient evidence. This weakens the impact of some of the set pieces considerably. Jodelle Ferland is fantastic as Lillith. In fact, shes by far the best thing about the film. From innocent and sweet to menacing, she effectively handles a number of characteristics to make her character memorable....

Saw VI Blu-ray review

The best Saw movie since the second one. Possibly, but Saw VI still has its problems. Simon checks out the Blu-ray… And yet, I find myself at times pleasantly surprised by what hes done with the film. It doesnt inject flashy cuts at every minute. It actually lets you sit back and work out without having your brain battered whats going on. The franchises traps have some degree of choice involved in them again....

Fantastic Mr Fox Blu-ray review

Ad content continues below The look of the film is great. The colour pallette entirely consisting of autumnal tones gives the film a very distinct look and feel. Foxs study is an exact replica of Dahls. Mr. Fox can be seen sporting Dahls favoured corduroy suits throughout the film. You cant take in a Wes Anderson movie and not acknowledge the excellent use of music. Music has played such a huge part in all of his movies andFantastic Mr....

Green Zone review

Hindsight gives clarity to issues that were perhaps more difficult to understand at the time. In the case ofGreen Zone, it also kind of ruins thriller movie plots. before hes approached by a CIA guy looking to get Miller on his side. (For some reason, theres also Amy Ryan running around as a rather hapless journalist. And thats another major problem inGreen Zone. Damon is very fun to watch running around with a gun....

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Xbox 360 review

Has the Xbox 360 found its Mario Kart equivalent? The various game-changing power-ups all have their analogues in Nintendos racer, from guided missiles to screen-obscuring rainbows. Vehicles come in a predictable variety of flavours, from slow but dependable cars to fast but skittish bikes. But whileSega All-Starsborrows its mechanics fromMario Kart, its dynamics are subtly different. The films that gave us childhood nightmares

It was a good day to be alive. Judge Dooms crazy eyes demise:Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Holy Jesus and crap in a bag, this was scary. And when it surely cant get any worse, he melts amid yet more howls of harrowing despair. Any successful toilet training undertaken until this point is rendered instantly irrelevant. Will he reach the lightsaber in time? For Gods sake, man, hurry it up, you cock!...

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo review

Will Rupert join the chorus of voices praising The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to the skies? A light-hearted look at the idiosyncrasies of Scandinavian society then…I think not. Larssons own story is cinematic enough in itself. HisMillenniumseries, of which this is the first part, have posthumously gone on to become a global phenomenon. Unsurprisingly, Hollywood has already been sniffing around. But how does the Swedish language version fair up?...
