Another ship, and another crew to impregnate, stalk and terrorise by an apparently indestructible alien creature. The events of the first film, Cameron establishes, had caused Ripley to lose everything. Her 57-year drift in hypersleep had left her lost in time as well as space. We see the ant-like hierarchy of the aliens themselves, with soldier aliens protecting the egg-laying queen....

An unbelievably good score for one of the all time great films. Goldsmith was nominated for an Academy Award for his magnificent work in this classic piece of cinema. Not the most typical Goldsmith piece, by any stretch of the imagination. The two classical influences create a kind of culture clash, enhancing the depiction of conflict on screen. Goldsmith also provided the score for the sequel, although wouldnt return for the final instalment of the trilogy....
